S.T.R.I.V.E. Mentoring Program

What is S.T.R.I.V.E?

S.T.R.I.V.E is an acronym that means Success Through Relationship, Investment, Versatility and Empowerment. The S.T.R.I.V.E Mentoring Program provides UNC Asheville students with invaluable learning experiences through its partnership with the Hillcrest Enrichment Program. This partnership allows UNC Asheville students to enhance the development of at-risk youth in the Asheville City School system through the implementation of various educational and cultural experiences and activities. Encompassing subjects such as music, art and career exploration, involvement in S.T.R.I.V.E's weekly activities allows mentors to build longlasting relationships among their peer group and with youth. Some of the desired outcomes of the program for UNC Asheville students include increasing empathy, broadening awareness, and developing a realization and appreciation for diverse people and lived experiences.
