Megan was born and raised in the city of Hephzibah, GA, a small community within the larger Augusta, GA -- home of the Masters Golf Tournament. She graduated from Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School in 2010, after which she attended Valdosta State University. There, she completed both her Bachelors and Masters degrees (Sociology and Educational Leadership, respectively). The summer before beginning her graduate studies, however, she became a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated (SLG), the nation's largest and fastest-growing multicultural fraternal organization, and is now the President of the Georgia Alumnae Association of SLG.
Her leadership philosophy is one that is centered on her personal definition of diversity: "Encouraging the free and autonomous self-disclosure of one’s intersectional identities through the validation and recognition of their experiences." This has remained at the heart of her personal life, as well as her work in Student Affairs and will continue throughout her time at UNC Asheville.
